Our History

The Bringas-Haghenbeck Foundation (IAP) was founded in 1935 with the dream of improving the lives of the most vulnerable. Over the years, it has grown through partnerships with other institutions, offering comprehensive care and dignity to those most in need.

The path of a dream that has never stopped growing

In the year 1935, a dream began to take root in the hearts of those who believed that a fairer and more humane world was possible. This is how the Luz Bringas y Robles Foundation was born—a spark of hope for the most vulnerable people in Mexico. Driven by a deep love for their country and a firm desire to transform the lives of those forgotten by society, a group of visionaries founded this institution with the goal of improving the social conditions of those most in need. Their work, filled with compassion, and their boundless dedication laid the foundation for what today is a legacy of well-being and transformation.

In 1959, a new force for change joined the journey: the María de los Ángeles Haghenbeck y de la Lama Foundation, an initiative born from the hearts of those who, like its founders, understood that human dignity must be defended at all times. This foundation broadened the scope of action, offering not just aid but love, care, and a chance at a better life.

The stories of both foundations began to intertwine, like two rivers that meet and merge to form a stronger current. Thus, in the 1990s, the Luz Bringas y Robles Foundation and the María de los Ángeles Haghenbeck y de la Lama Foundation decided to unite, creating a single force that would carry their mission to new heights. From this merger, the Bringas-Haghenbeck Foundation, I.A.P., was born—and with it, a future full of possibilities. It was the same passion, the same love, but with a renewed vision of a more inclusive and hope-filled Mexico.

As with all things in life, the journey continued to grow. In 2007, the Residencial Teodoro Gildred I.A.P. joined this dream, ensuring that more older adults had a home where they felt cared for and respected. In 2011, the Ignacio Medina Lima Foundation, I.A.P., joined the cause, followed in 2017 by the Antonio Malhomme Educational Social Circle, I.A.P., and the Agustín González De Cosío Relief Foundation, I.A.P. Each merger was another seed planted in the fertile soil of love and social commitment.

Today, the Bringas-Haghenbeck Foundation, I.A.P. remains alive, vibrant, and with a clear purpose: to care, protect, educate, and transform. Through its residences for older adults, educational campuses affiliated with the SEP, and community centers, the work that began over 80 years ago continues. And every day, with every step, with every smile received, we are reminded that its mission lives on in the soul of every person we touch.

This is a path marked by love, empathy, and the determination to change the lives of those who need it most. Every story we’ve lived, every step we’ve taken, is a reminder that when we unite for a just cause, we are capable of creating a future full of hope and dignity. And as long as we keep walking, this dream—born of compassion and commitment—will never stop growing.
